Tilly's Diabetes Homepage

Home

Tilly was a spayed cat, living in Germany. From March 2004 to March 2005 she suffered from diabetes, but subsequently went into remission with an insulin called Lantus®.

I have set up this site to hopefully give other people with diabetic cats some help. I have attempted to include the most important information, in particular those things I wish I had known when Tilly was first diagnosed, but that I had to slowly learn over many months:

•  What is the best diet for a diabetic cat?
•  Which insulin promotes regulation and has the highest remission rates?

•  What is good dosing protocol for Lantus and Levemir in cats?

•  What is the newest scientific research on feline diabetes?
•  What else do you need to watch out for?

I am not a vet, just someone who was forced to confront this disease because of the illness of my cat.

I would like to thank Tilly's vets for their dedication and being up-to-date on the latest research, for the scientists who showed us the path to remission.

And thank you to Tilly - you always hung in there and trusted me that I would do my very best to find a way for you to return to health. Until the end of your life you were in remission. I lost you to chronic renal disease in September 2012. I miss you very much.
